HISTORY
Clay Gully Simmental Stud was founded in 1981 by Rob & Viv Laycock using Dunmore bloodlines and imported purebred females from New Zealand. Our cattle are bred on coastal ticky lantana country giving you the confidence that they will handle the toughest conditions. We strives to produce functional, smooth coated, well-muscled, soft, easy doing fertile cattle with a particular emphasis being placed on coat type and temperament, these cattle have performed extremely well in a variety of environments from the Victorian High country through to Far North Queensland.
In 1989 Rob & Viv purchased “KIPPER” a 900 Acre property 20 kilometers west of the Esk Township, Kipper comprises of a mixture of ticky spear grass and vine scrub country.

Since our inception we have aimed to produce functional bulls for central and northern Queensland commercial producers with demand from other eastern Australian states. Our bulls are marketed at two main sale events throughout the year these being Agrow Emerald and the Clay Gully Bull Sale, click here for more details. All of the bulls are vaccinated with 3 Germ Blood, Botulism, 3 Day and 7 in 1.
We have also achieved exceptional results in show rings throughout QLD taking home seven Grand Champion titles at the QLD Royal Show as well as numerous broad ribbons at Beef Expos and Feature Shows. We also prides ourself on winning numerous Inter-Breed and Breeders Groups titles at various shows throughout QLD.
